In the midst of gentrification, the area is rapidly becoming a thriving enclave of Indigenous culture with an enviable bar and art scene – a place to find beautifully restored homes within minutes of the CBD
Situated on the outskirts of Sydney’s CBD, Redfern is a suburb that has edge and grit – an attitude that’s represented in its arts venues, bars and café scene.
Regent Street is home to funky and eclectic bars whilst Redfern Street is the main area for local shopping and dining. In the midst of it all is Redfern Park offering up an alluring green space where families linger around the playground and water features.
Loved for its proximity to other Sydney attractions, locals don’t have to wander too far from home – whether it’s to stretch out at neighbouring Moore Park or get a cultural fix at Carriageworks.
Iconic street art in the powerful colours of red, black and yellow, pays homage to the strong local Indigenous community and heritage.
The infamous area surrounding, Eveleigh Street, Caroline Street, Hugo Street and Wine Street, aka ‘The Block’, is undergoing redevelopment and gentrification. Students descend on the neighbourhood to get to nearby Sydney University, making this small part of Redfern more approachable.
